201 Stainless Steel Super-Buffed Round Tube
Type 201 is also in the “Austenitic” group of stainless steels, although it is in a grouping separate from the 300 series of austenitic stainless:
201 is comparable to chromium-nickel types of stainless, including the more common 304 and 301 types. Economy combined with good mechanical and corrosion resistance properties make 201 a very popular grade.
The primary composition difference between the 201 and 304 Series is slight decrease in nickel and a little more molybdenum content than 304. Some of the nickel is substituted with manganese and nitrogen, which in effect can lower the overall cost. Additionally, the increased molybdenum adds excellent forming properties.
AED stocks four sizes of round 201 stainless tube, which meets ASTM A249, listed below.
These are the only sizes we are planning to stock.
All are Super-buffed, with a chrome plated appearance.
Common applications for the 201 material include truck and boat rails, pool ladders, grab handles, appliances, mirror mounts and now, Nerf Bars and Bumpers!
